Гены, контролирующие гибель и элиминацию «лишних» клеток в процессе эмбриональной дифференцировки тканей (классический пример - дегенерация хвоста у головастиков): наличие специфических Г."г.к." подтверждено у нематоды (Caenorhabditis elegans) - гены ced-3 и ced-4 инициируют гибель, гены ced-1 и ced-2 обеспечивают фагоцитоз погибших клеток, а ген nuc-1 контролирует утилизацию ДНК из погибших клеток.
